Ivar Kvaal (b. 1983) is an artist, photographer, publisher and curator based in Oslo, Norway. Kvaal works with a wide range of clients, mainly focused on projects within the cultural field. Kvaal has garnered critical acclaim for his photography in Norway and elsewhere. Images from the Dvale series has been exhibited at numerous institutions and galleries, including The Aperture Foundation in New York and Musée de l’Elysée in Switzerland. The project Tethered to the Polestar was exhibited at Somerset House in London (Landmark: The Fields of Photography, 2013). Kvaals project Hessdalen was exhibited at The Henie Onstad Museum in Oslo, Norway (Norwegian Documentary Photography, 2019). Recently 36 pictures from The National Museum was exhibited at Architektur Galerie Berlin, Germany (Nationalmuseum Oslo, 2022). Kvaals work is featured in Thames and Hudson’s reGeneration2 -Tomorrow’s Photographers Today (2010) and Landmark – The Fields of Landscape Photography (2014). Kvaal is also featured in Journal’s Norwegian Journal of Photography #2 (2015) and 100 Norwegian Photographers (2019) published by Hatje Cantz. Dvale was published by Teknisk Industri in 2016. Hessdalen was published in 2018 by Journal. 36 pictures from the National Museum was published in 2022 by Ljå Forlag.
